Mission and Values of Neighbor to Neighbor Toledo

Mission: N2N encourages respectful and productive relationships among neighbors by sponsoring social and educational experiences leading all people to a more civil, peaceful and kind world

We believe:

That all people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect

That all people have the capacity for goodness and kindness

That while always desirable, we approach reconciliation between neighbors without judgment

That we are always working to be better at creating healthy relationships

That how we treat people matters

That acts of kindness matter

That working for peace matters

Past IAKs…

September: Be generous when tipping!

August: Be kind to call center workers!

July: Show kindness to those traveling!

June: Bring back the peace sign!

May: Kindness Bingo! Download a clean bingo card to play along!

April: Volunteer! There are so many wonderful community organizations that could use some help! Just one hour can make a huge difference! What sparks your imagination? What might you accomplish?

March: Thank a cashier or clerk! We all know how much a simple sign of gratitude can brighten someone's day.

February: send a Valentine to prisoners, shut ins, nursing home residents or people who could use some cheer.  We will be distributing our heart stickers to all 19 branches of the Toledo Lucas County Public Library!  Share them with someone who needs encouragement or who is doing something kind.

In 2025 we will highlight Intentional Acts of Kindness!!  Watch each month for some fresh ideas about how to 🩷 your neighbor!

October’s Intentional Act of Kindness:

Share the bounty!

Maybe you are one of those people who leave their extra zucchini on your neighbor's front porch. Maybe you have too many tomatoes this year. Maybe you want to buy a few extra cans of tuna for your local food pantry. So many ways to share the bounty of the season and the blessings of your life!!  Let us know what you do.

One of our community partners, Chuck Stocking, recently had a N2N Ice Cream Social for the people on his block, in a neighborhood near Perrysburg. He said he didn't know most of them and was inspired to do something to make connections.

Over 40 people of all ages and family groupings came. Only one family didn't, because they were on vacation. People stayed for two hours and enjoyed conversation together. He had nametags with ice breaker questions but people didn't need them. Sounds like a perfect afternoon to us!

Neighbor to Neighbor’s Christmastime Peace Notecard sale raised over $1500 to support one of our great neighbors, Mom’s House Toledo. Thank you to all who purchased cards!

“Mom’s House is a faith-based organization that strives to positively influence the lives of two generations through education for both parent and child. We believe that all life has value and every child and parent deserves to be loved, protected and nurtured for who they are and who they can become, regardless of their circumstance.”

“The enthusiasm, the support, the welcome this initiative has received just affirms that I am not the only one who has been bothered by the political divide!”

neighbor to neighbor yard signs

Last year we distributed 2300 yard signs!  They are a visible reminder of our desire for peace. Feel free to leave them up so we can be encouraged to be kind. We hope to make more signs available in the future. Stay tuned for details when the weather allows us to put new signs in the ground!!
